A TeaMartini recruit for 2020 |
The Monday has always been the day treated most unfairly. In song it can bring you down. Saying that you have a case of this particular day can get your ass kicked on some job sites. You can't get breakfast at Akmed's diner nor pick up a quart of the best salsa at Jacobos. What you can do is get a nice meal at Louie M's Burger Lust and spend the afternoon with your 2001 driver and videographer.

It's no longer Africa hot |
This is exactly what Rick and Laurie did. They met up with the best captain of a TeaMartini Sagwagon, Barb and the man they kindly call Dego DeLaurentis, Dave.
A perfectly delightful afternoon led into a cookout with official TeaMartini drivers from 2002, Ben and Mary. With the inversion of the temperature from the previous day, the group enjoyed a long night outside and even needed to build a fire to keep the elderly from whining too much about the cold. After what was determined to be the best meal of this year's ride,
the desire to play Pit became to great and the match to the death was on. For the uninitiated, playing any game with Rick and Mary is akin to playing with Will and Grace. Their desire to compete to the fullest of their ability only infuriates their father ("They won't trade with me at the start, only

each other!"), which seems to be their secret second goal. Laurie noted that she is always leery of making alliances in games with a single winner. Her keen observations into the game psyche were indeed on as in the latter stages of the game with Mary on the verge of winning (she had led from the start), she passed Rick the "Bear" on the initial trade, an unwritten sin, but by the end of the hand he had slipped it back to her with a the "Bull" in exchange for the two cards that would allow him to pass her in the standings.
It took only one more round for Rick to win the game and end the night of commodity trading hi-jynx.
